when dylan started standing and playing at our glass-topped coffee table, visions of accidents and shattered glass made me eager for a "new" piece of furniture. we didn't have the money or desire for something brand-new, so we were thrilled to find a beautiful cedar chest on clearance at an antique store. it makes a perfect coffee table:the magazine baskets that fit under our old table are now hidden inside and out of the reach of little hands. we replaced a potential hazard, saved a bundle, and gave a lovely old piece a new home.

I love it! I got rid of our coffee table when Ethan started crawling, too!
It looks so nice and it's practical, too. I like your new room arrangement ... looks like their might be enough room for Jim's chair to come out of "exile" in the den and have room for more seating . (: HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY DYLAN! Can't wait to see you tomorrow. Love. Mom& Grandma <3
What a great find! I like finding used furniture, too. Usually you can buy something that's much higher quality than cheap Target furniture--and it will retain its value if you decide to sell it later. Using a chest for a coffee table is an excellent idea if you're short on space, too.
Thanks for joining us for TGT! We won't be running it on Thanksgiving, but please join us again the week after that!
Your living room is beautiful! What a great idea...I am going to keep my eyes open for one for our house. Sam gets into the baskets under our coffee table and we are planning on putting it in the basement so it is no longer a temptation or safety issue for him :)
